Students from Lady Lumley’s have produced, with support from museum staff and volunteers, our latest research project this year:
In Search of William Marshall
In our work experience at Beck Isle, we are researching the life of William Marshall, an influential agricultural expert of the 19th century. So far this has been an enjoyable experience, and we have learnt much about this influential figure. We have been allowed access to Beck Isle Museum’s archives, which have many interesting records and artefacts. Also,, we went on a visit to the Pickering Parish Church, where there is a memorial to the Marshall family.

Throughout the rest of the week we will be doing fieldwork in various places across the local area, as well as inside the museum itself.
